The STAX SRS-3170 Classic system is a combination of the SR-307 Earspeakers which feature the same new "super engineering plastic" diaphragm as the higher end models. The SRM-323s features the solid-state DC amplifier with an all stage direct-coupled balanced output circuit.
STAX SR-307 Electrostatic Earspeakers
When purchasing the SRS-3170 Classic system you get a Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting (PC-OCC) low-capacity parallel cable with a gold plated termination connecting it to the SRM-323s amplifier unit, offering long term reliability.
STAX SRM-323s Driver Unit
The output stage of the SRM-323s uses high voltage bipolar transistors which lower the output impedance and improve the drive capability of the SR-307 Earspeakers. This expands the dynamic range and offers high quality musical reproduction. The power supply that has been used in the higher end SRM-006tS vacuum driver has been used in the SRM-323s aswell which helps to achieve greater control over the earspeakers enabling them to be used in a professional environment for monitoring.
